Homemade Honey Butter Biscuits

These biscuits are wicked simple and ready in ~30 minutes from start to finish. I like making them when I want something homemade but don't have all morning to spend in the kitchen.

Ingredients

Stuff You Need (~9 biscuits)

  • 3 cups AP flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup cold unsalted butter, 1 1/2 sticks
  • 1 cup + 2 Tbsp cold milk

Honey Butter

  • 1/4 cup salted butter, 4 Tbsp
  • 6 Tbsp honey

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400F.
  • Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  • Grate cold butter into flour mixture and work in with hands until crumbly with pea-sized pieces.
  • Pour in cold milk and stir with wooden spoon until shaggy dough forms.
  • Turn dough onto floured surface and gather into rough ball.
  • Flatten to 1 inch thick, fold over itself, and repeat 3-4 times.
  • Pat dough to 3/4 inch thickness.
  • Cut biscuits with round cutter, pressing straight down without twisting.
  • Place biscuits on parchment-lined baking sheet touching slightly.
  • Bake 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
  • Melt butter and honey in small saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly.
  • Brush honey butter over warm biscuits and serve.

Notes

Keep butter cold for flakiest biscuits. Don't twist cutter when cutting or biscuits won't rise properly.
