Chipotle Tortilla Chips Copycat

These taste way better than the bagged stuff and cost about half as much. The lime juice is what makes them taste like Chipotle's - don't skip it.

Ingredients

Ingredients (~40 chips)

  • 10 corn tortillas
  • 1 Tbsp kosher salt
  • 2 Tbsp lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 3 cups frying oil, sunflower, peanut, or avocado

Instructions

  • Stack tortillas and cut into quarters.
  • Heat oil in heavy skillet to 350F.
  • Fry chips in small batches of 8-10 for about 50 seconds until lightly browned.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Immediately sprinkle hot chips with salt and drizzle with lime juice.
  • Serve right away.

Notes

Use a thermometer or test oil temperature with a tortilla piece. Chips lose crispness quickly when cool.
