Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds ground turkey
- 3/4 cup panko bread crumbs
- 3 ounces Monterey Jack cheese, shredded (3/4 cup)
- 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
- Salt and pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted and buttered
Before Cooking
Ensure you use 93 percent lean ground turkey, as 99 percent fat-free turkey breast will make the burgers overly tough.
Make the Turkey Patties
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, panko breadcrumbs, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, Greek yogurt, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper.
Mix everything thoroughly with your hands, then shape the mixture into four patties. Each patty should be about 3/4 inch thick and 4 inches in diameter.
Season both sides of the patties with additional salt and pepper.
Cook the Patties
Heat the olive oil in a 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat until it begins to shimmer.
Add the turkey patties to the skillet and cook them for about 5 minutes on each side, or until both sides are nicely browned and the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
Assemble and Serve
Place the cooked patties onto the prepared burger buns. Serve immediately with your preferred toppings and condiments.
